Setting: In-Person The Dalles Art Center 220 East 4th Street, The Dalles, OR 97058, USA The Dalles, OR 97058
Bring your watercolor paint setup and learn from Elizabeth Zimmerman on location. This program offers your choice of 3 different locations over 3 days, in conjunction with North Wasco County Parks & Recreation. Pick and choose your classes, or sign up for all three! There are price breaks with each additional class within this program.
Elizabeth will give a brief demonstration of how she would approach her plein air watercolor painting, including explaining why she chooses her composition and what is the inspiration for that piece. She will demonstrate how she chooses what colors to mix and why she's choosing specific watercolor painting techniques. Then students will be encouraged to find their spots to work from on their own paintings. Elizabeth will walk from student to student to give one-on-one help and constructive feedback.
Please make sure to bring your own foldable chair (camping chair would work well, a side table would be a bonus), standing easel (optional), water in non-breakable container/jar, paint brushes, paper towel/cloth towel, and sun protection, plus a bag or box with handle to transport your painting supplies. If you are short on watercolor paper, paints, or in need of a mini tin palette with watercolor paints, they will be available for purchase from Elizabeth Zimmerman at the beginning of class before we start the walk. Some previous experience with watercolor painting is recommended for this class.
