Columbia Center for the Arts presents: Steel Magnolias a play by Robert Harling

Y’all git ready to laugh, cry and be touched when Columbia Center for the Arts presents Steel Magnolias written by Robert Harling with special arrangement with Dramatist Play Services. The boss lady for this here show is Ashly Will, Ashly has been bossing people around on stage for a few years now and knows just what y’all wanna see. Steel Magnolias was originally produced by W.P.A. theater New York City, 1987 (Kyle Renick, Artistic Director). It became so popular it was made into a movie with a powerhouse cast of amazing actresses.
The play is centered around “Truvy’s” beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the “Ladies” who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Come on down and join this group of gossipy southern ladies in their hometown beauty parlor. The play is alternately hilarious and touching—and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic banter of its characters.
Steel Magnolias will run September 13,14, 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 7:30 pm with matinees on September 15 & 22 at 2:00pm . Tickets are available on our website at www.columbiaarts.org
