The Backcountry Film Festival & Snow School Fundraiser, Friday, November 15, 5:30 to 9pm, will benefit the Museum's Snow School. Admission to the Backcountry Film Festival & Snow School Fundraiser is free, but there will be many opportunities during the event festivities to support the Snow School.
The snow school is an amazing hands-on winter ecology program for 5th graders. This field trip takes students to Mt. Hood where they strap on snowshoes and learn all about how plants and animals adapt to winter and learn about the science of snow itself. Many kids in our area don't have the resources to get out into the snow and the Discovery Center hopes to change that. The Winter Wildlands Alliance has donated their adrenaline-packed film which will be screened in the M.J. Murdock Theater, and there will be Sierra Nevada Beer on sale, Noelle's Taco Truck for fuel, and silly indoor-adapted lawn games and a raffle in the River Gallery.
