Columbia Center for the Arts and Waucoma Bookstore have partnered to create the Gorge Book Festival, a new event in Hood River, Oregon. The book festival will be March 6th through March 9th and will be held at Columbia Center for Arts (215 Cascade, Hood River). Events taking place over the course of the weekend will include author readings, workshops, panel discussions, a local book fair, and exciting evening events for all ages.
The Festival opens on the evening of Thursday, March 6th, with an interactive mystery event in the theater with authors Emmeline Duncan, Tina Connolly, and Tamara Berry.
Events continue all day on Friday, March 7th, with a writing workshop with author and professor Kim Stafford, a gallery exhibit opening & book signings from 5pm to 7pm featuring author and illustrator art, and “A night of laughs and chats with comedian and author Taylor Wolfe and singer and comedian Molly Schwarz” beginning at 7:30pm. The Book Festival continues all day Saturday March 8th with “In Conversation” discussions between several authors, including Tina Ontiveros, as well as book readings, panels, an author luncheon, and book signings. The evening is topped off with a night of music and poetry with writer and musician “Willy Vlautin and poet Anis Morjgani” at 7:30pm. On the final day of the festival, Sunday March 9th, the festival offers a free local author & small press fair, workshops for local authors and would-be authors alike, an open mic poetry reading, and a children’s book reading with author Roseanne Parry. The inaugural Gorge Book Festival is brought to us in part with a generous grant from the Hood River Chamber of Commerce, Hood River Best Western and other local sponsors. Join the fun, meet authors, attend workshops and events, and be a part of this exciting new event.
