Tickets are on sale at Klindt's Booksellers and Stationers Lines of Designs-Clothing That Fits or online at www.mccca.info

Mid-Columbia Community Concert Association (MCCCA) is proud to bring back by popular demand, the 10th Annual Dancing with The Gorge Stars fundraiser. Six local Gorge Stars will compete for your votes at this mid-winter event. Like the reality TV dance show, our contestants learn a dance routine prior to show time. But in this show, the participants are our friends and neighbors from the gorge area. Paired with a professional dancer from the Utah Ballroom Dance Co., they get one week to learn and perfect their routines before performing on stage before a live audience. Video highlights of the rehearsals are shown during the event to showcase how far each contestant has come in just one week.

The local participants:

DeAnn DePaepe
Ryan LeBreton
Yvonne Pepin-Wakefield
Joel Lane
Judy Ford
Randy McMurrin

Tickets $25 prepaid or $30 at the door

Join us at 15 Mile Winery tasting room for our monthly "Friday Night Bites" event.

Taste our 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon alongside specially paired steak bites.
Steak & Cab go hand in hand. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is vinified in a style that exhibits a French, old-world feel. Flavorful and medium bodied, you get to experience all the grape has to offer, instead of it being covered in an oaky veil like many new-world wines.

Wines by the glass, as well as bottles to go are available as well.

DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE DALLES LIONS CLUB CHRISTMAS TREE PICK UP ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, JANUARY 13TH HAS BEEN MOVED TO SATURDAY, JANUARY 27TH, FROM 9:00 AM TO 2:00 PM.  IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PLACED YOUR TREE ON THE CURB, JUST LEAVE IT THERE AND WE WILL COLLECT IT NEXT WEEK!  THANK YOU!!

Residents of The Dalles can dispose of their Christmas tree 🎄 🗑 on Saturday, Jan. 13th, by placing it curbside by 9 a.m. for pick-up by The Dalles Lions Club volunteers and The Dalles Disposal. Volunteers will knock on doors for donations or leave a door hangar. The annual Christmas Tree Pick-up is a fundraiser for Lions Club programs, and all proceeds are used in our community.
🌲 The tree pick-up began in 1972, and has been supported by The Dalles Disposal and Big Jim's for many, many years. The Dalles Disposal provides equipment and crews for the fundraiser and we provide food vouchers for the volunteers. Over $80,000 🤩 has been raised since the fundraiser began. Pictured are, left to right, Bill Hamilton, representing the Lions Club and Ted Palmer and Devin Crye with The Dalles Disposal.
At Big Jim’s, we’re always interested in ways we can continue to support our community. Let us know!

History of The Dalles Dam Eagle Watch

Since 2010 park rangers at The Dalles Lock & Dam have hosted an annual Eagle Watch event from The Dalles Dam Visitor Center. The visitor center and adjacent Seufert Park is a hub for bird watchers, photographers and others seeking to see America’s National Symbol in action. This is because, located directly across the river from the visitor center and Seufert Park is The Dalles Dam and a green space on the south side of the dam, known as Westrick Park.

This green space, although not open to the public, is a prime winter roosting spot for migrating eagles due to the very nature of its secluded location. It’s quiet, dark at night, and free from much human disturbance. In addition, the area is blocked from the wind on one side and has many different perching options such as tall trees and snags, power towers, and rock islands for water access.

Wintering eagles often congregate at the confluence of rivers or around dams and powerhouses where the water is constantly turbulent. This is because turbulent water won’t freeze over in the winter, meaning guaranteed access to fish, their main source of food and the reason they are here! Eagles migrate in search of food and will return to the same communal roosting sites year after year. Mid-December through February it is common to see anywhere from 40 to 60 eagles in this one location! Then, once the weather warms and food is plentiful again, our winter guests return home to nest.
