Timberbound is a group of folk musicians based in Portland and Seattle. They interpret, preserve, and disseminate folk music created in and about the Pacific Northwest — non-commercial music profiling the lives and work of fisherman, loggers, longshoremen, and others. Their repertoire includes folk songs about the Columbia River.

They are tentatively slated to share the bill with Hobe Kytr, who co-founded the original iteration of the band in the 1970s.

Columbia Center for the Arts presents: Steel Magnolias a play by Robert Harling

Opening Sept. 13th

Y’all git ready to laugh, cry and be touched when Columbia Center for the Arts presents Steel Magnolias written by Robert Harling with special arrangement with Dramatist Play Services. The boss lady for this here show is Ashly Will, Ashly has been bossing people around on stage for a few years now and knows just what y’all wanna see.  Steel Magnolias was originally produced by W.P.A. theater New York City, 1987 (Kyle Renick, Artistic Director). It became so popular it was made into a movie with a powerhouse cast of amazing actresses.

The play is centered around “Truvy’s” beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the “Ladies” who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Come on down and join this group of gossipy southern ladies in their hometown beauty parlor. The play is alternately hilarious and touching—and, in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic banter of its characters.

Steel Magnolias will run September 13,14, 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 7:30 pm with matinees on September 15 & 22 at 2:00pm . Tickets are available on our website at www.columbiaarts.org

Armed with the music from some of the greatest composers, songwriters and performers of the past 400 years, the technology of the 21st century, and their virtual orchestra (Bob), the duo delivers everything from Chopin to Queen.  Piano Heist is a mishmash of theatrical wonder, comedy, audience participation, heartfelt stories, a pinch of history, and musical madness.

Lifelong friends, and colleagues, Nico Rhodes, and Patrick Courtin, shocked and appalled by the realization that piano just isn’t cool anymore, set off on a divine quest to redeem the keyboard and reinstate its reputation as the greatest instrument of ALL TIME! Armed with the music of the greatest composers, songwriters and performers of the past 300 years, and the technology of the 21st century – their virtual orchestra D.O.U.G.I. (Digital Orchestral Ultimate Gizmo Intelligence), Nico and Patrick deliver everything from classical piano raptures to bombastic boogie woogie, from romantic piano ballads to 80’s keyboard synth battles in their show Piano Heist! What ensues is a mishmash of theatrical wonder, comedy, audience participation, heartfelt stories, a pinch of history, and a world of musical madness.

Check out The Civic's CLUB 22 for a social hour starting at 6pm.  Light food and drinks are available for purchase.
