The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association presents

Valentine’s Day Dance with the Jazz Collective Big Band

February 14, 7 PM
The Ruins, Hood River

The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association (CGOA) Jazz Collective, under the dynamic direction of Michael Paul, invites couples and music lovers to step back in time for a romantic evening of big band swing at their Valentine's Day Dance. The event will take place at The Ruins in Hood River on Valentine's Day, beginning at 7:00 PM.

This special performance promises to transform The Ruins into a sophisticated jazz venue, where the CGOA Jazz Collective will perform timeless classics from the greatest names in jazz and big band history. The evening's repertoire features an impressive selection of dance-worthy arrangements, including Stan Kenton's tender rendition of "My Funny Valentine," the infectious rhythm of Benny Goodman's "Bei Mir Bist Du Schön," and the passionate Latin flair of Arturo Sandoval's "Mambo Caliente."

"We're excited to bring these legendary pieces to life and create a memorable Valentine's Day experience," says Michael Paul, Director of the CGOA Jazz Collective.” From the sultry sounds of 'New York, New York' to the modern jazz fusion of Herbie Hancock's 'Cantaloupe Island,' we're offering a musical journey that spans the greatest eras of jazz."
In addition to the tuneful, danceable big band jazz, the event will feature some extra touches to help make the evening special. Guests can snap a photo at the selfie station, and local favorite, Boda’s Kitchen, is providing a delicious array of sweet and savory chocolate desserts.

The CGOA Jazz Collective continues its tradition of bringing high-quality jazz performances to the Columbia Gorge region, making this Valentine's Day celebration a must-attend event for music enthusiasts and romantic souls alike.
