CRUISE THE GORGE IS ON! AUGUST 8-10, 2025
Kicking off with the “Neon Cruise” Friday evening, downtown The Dalles. It’s an “open” cruise, just like back in the day, so just show up and start showing off (NO burnouts however). It starts around 7pm and runs until 9:45. This is the favorite part of the weekend for many of the locals, and the sidewalks up and down 2nd and 3rd streets fill up with appreciative and enthusiastic spectators. Several downtown businesses will be having special events during the cruise. You can also pre-register for the Saturday show at Burgerville on 3rd St. between 4 and 7 pm.
Then Saturday brings the “Show in the Shade” on the grass in beautiful SOROSIS PARK, 300E Scenic Dr. Registration opens at 9am, judging until 1pm, and the Parade of Champions awards ceremony beginning at 2pm. Goodie bags and dash plaques to the 1st 250 vehicles. $20 pre-entry. $25 after July 31. 40+ awards, food and specialty vendors, oldies music and plenty of raffle prizes, plus Dennis Gage will be filming an episode for “My Classic Car” TV!
Then Saturday evening features the Eagles/Elks Cruise Nite from 5 to 7pm at the lodge, 2006 W 7th, The Dalles.
Finally, if you want one more chance to trophy, there’s the Dufur Classic Car Show, on Sunday in the Dufur Community Park, just 13 miles South of The Dalles, starting at 9am.
So, one day, two days or all three, how much fun do you want to have?

THE GORGE — Columbia Gorge CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), in partnership with Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation, announces the return of its annual Playhouse Raffle, this year featuring a beautifully crafted, custom-built playhouse designed and constructed by students at Hood River Valley High School (HRVHS).
The playhouse valued at $6,000 is more than just a fun prize — it’s a powerful symbol of what happens when education, creativity, and community come together for a greater cause. Students in Michael Becker’s Advanced Wood and Construction class led the design and build process from start to finish. Working in teams, students first created small Styrofoam models. After careful consideration, one standout design was selected and brought to life as this year’s playhouse.
